Practice Cultural Quality
With growing concern about racial and ethnic health care disparities, health care systems and providers have recognized cultural competency education and adoption of the Cultural and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) Standards as a strategy to address this disparity.
Practice Cultural Quality is a program sponsored by the Illinois Foundation for Quality Health Care (IFQHC) in partnership with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Office of Minority Health. Through this online training program, health care providers learn the impact of cultural and ethnic influences on health care delivery and how to improve communication, treatment, and care outcomes.
Benefits of Participation :
- Provides up to 9.0 hours Category 1 AMA CME credits at no cost.
- Provides up to 9.0 hours of CEU credits at no cost.
- Is endorsed by the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Physicians.
- Is available online and can be taken anytime.
- Is supported by IFQHC staff through consultation, telephone support and referral to tools and resources at no cost.
Program Requirements :
- Application to Participate.
- Completion of Pre-assessment Form prior to completing any of the Office of Minority Health (OMH) Modules.
- Completion of the online, Web-based curriculum from the OMH “A Physician’s Guide to Culturally Competent Care” Modules. (available at http://www.thinkculturalhealth.org)
- Adoption of CLAS Standards.
- Completion of Post-assessment Form after completing all OMH Modules.
Participant Recognition Certificate
To acknowledge your commitment in reducing ethnic and racial health care disparities and recognize your completion of the program, please send us a copy of your CME certificate and we will provide you a framed Participant Recognition Certificate.
